「はっとする、心に深く感じる」
To feel shocked. / To really feel something deeply connect with you.
先生が私のことを心配して言った真剣な言葉が私の胸を突いた。
My teacher said they were worried about me and those words seriously struck me.
懐が暖かい/寒い
「お金を持っている/持っているお金が少ない」
To have money. / To not have a lot of money.
昨日は給料日で懐が暖かかったので、仕事の後、みんなと飲みに行った。
Yesterday the pay I got was pretty good so after work I decided to go out and drink with everyone.
懐が深い
「心が広く、包容力がある」
Generous / open minded
社長は懐が深い人で、ライバル会社が倒産しそうなときに援助をした。
The president is such a generous person, that he helped a rival company when it was about to go bankrupt.
